Hey all, October is national bullying prevention month.

It's aimed at adult spouses, but lots of the same things apply to girlfriends/boyfriends and friends. If you're depressed, show this article to family and close friends. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/25/black-student-cant-be-val_n_909163.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003
If the allegations are true, this is ridiculous. The last time I checked my calendar, it wasn't April of 1861. http://www.dosomething.org/news/study-shows-suspensions-dont-work
You already know this, but now you have something to print out or a link to pass along to school faculty. http://www.muscatdaily.com/Archive/Stories-Files/Schools-call-for-counselors-as-bullying-cases-rise
If you're unfamiliar with the region, click to read about Oman. (Note: this may impress your geography or history teacher.) http://www.edmontonsun.com/2011/07/16/anti-bullying-event-launched-by-local-tweens
Twenty-five tweens (all between 9-12 years old) in Edmonton put on an anti-bullying event. Yes, you all probably have the "DeGrassi" theme stuck in your heads now. "Why a Parent's Empathy Is Vital for a Bullied Girl -- and Why It Often Goes Out the Window "

Good article on etiquette on public transportation. http://michiganmessenger.com/48487/foster-children-would-be-allowed-to-get-clothing-only-from-second-hand-stores
"Under a new budget proposal from State Sen. Bruce Casswell, children in the state’s foster care system would be allowed to purchase clothing only in used clothing stores." If this were truly about the money, and not political showboating, why not focus on the dollar amount rather than the stores? If you spend $5 for three pairs of worn, stained socks at a thrift store, it's not magically cheaper than buying a brand new, never-been-sweat-in, 5 pack of socks on sale for $5 at a regular store.
